The order comes from Norwegian shipowner Global Car Carriers, which has selected the Everllence B&W ME-GI Mk10.7 engine for a series of four new car-carrier vessels currently under construction in China.

The contract covers four 6S60ME-GI Mk10.7 engines, which will be built by CSSC Engine Co. in Qingdao and installed on board four 8,600 car equivalent unit vessels being constructed at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing.

According to Everllence, the order represents the first commercial application of the ME-GI engine on the new Mk10.7 platform.

“This new milestone marks the first commercial application of the ME GI engine on the Mk10.7 platform and underscores the market’s continued confidence in our dual fuel methane technology,” said Bjarne Foldager, head of Two-Stroke Business at Everllence.

“This first order for ME GI 10.7 engines also highlights the strong collaboration between owner, yard and engine builder, and reinforces Everllence’s position as a leading provider of two stroke, dual fuel propulsion solutions.”

The new vessels are designed to combine high cargo capacity with future-ready propulsion systems that can help shipowners navigate increasingly stringent environmental regulations.

Christian Ludwig, vice president and head of Global Sales & Promotion for Everllence’s Two-Stroke Business, said the latest engine design offers significant operational and environmental benefits.

“The vessels will be equipped with the latest ME GI design, offering operational flexibility, the highest fuel efficiency, negligible methane slip and proven reliability based on the Diesel cycle combustion principle,” he said.

He added that the ME-GI concept has become one of the industry’s preferred dual-fuel technologies, supported by a substantial orderbook and extensive operational experience.

Everllence said the ME-GI platform has now accumulated more than 1,260 engine orders worldwide, representing over 33 GW of engine power. The company believes the Mk10.7 generation will further strengthen the technology’s role in supporting shipping’s transition towards more efficient and lower-emission operations.
