Final Blue Ship PSV handed over
Like its sister ships, Blue Protector is owned by Ulstein Blue Ship Invest, and, like two others in the series, will be managed by Atlantic Offshore on spot charter in the North Sea. The North Sea ships in the series feature adaptations for work in the Norwegian sector, such as increased power for better DP performance in foul weather, NOx reduction measures, and light ice class (ICE-C) in preparation for work further north.
The PX121 design features the Ulstein X-Bow concept, and are designed for optimum combination of fuel-efficiency and deadweight. The design is intended for efficiency over a wide draught range, important for PSV operation with varying loads, while the X-Bow confers beneficial qualities in terms of motion and propulsion efficiency in heavy seas.
Blue Protector is 83.4m long with beam of 18m and maximum speed of about 16 knots. She is DP2 equipped and meets DNV Clean Design notation. With load capacity of 4,100dwt and 850m² cargo deck she can carry 2,200 tonnes on deck, with tanks for oil, water and drilling fluids, plus four stainless steel tanks for flammable liquids. There is accommodation for 23 persons.
