Fincantieri to build new Seven Seas cruiser

The €474m deal adds a sister ship to Seven Seas Explorer which began service in 2016 and Seven Seas Splendor, due for delivery in 2020.

Scheduled for delivery in 2023, the 45,000 tonne ship will be Regent’s sixth all-suite vessel and can accommodate up to 750 guests. It is said to be being built using the latest environmental protection technologies.

“We are excited to build on the spectacular success of Seven Seas Explorer and Seven Seas Splendor as we embark on bringing to life a new vessel that will set even higher benchmarks for elegance, luxury and style,” said Frank Del Rio, president and chief executive of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

Fincantieri’s chief executive, Giuseppe Bono, said that the agreement was the ‘perfect seal’ on the work carried out by the company.

“Today we have ten ships on order for Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, five of which have been secured in the last five months, for all the three brands in their portfolio. This result confirms the strength of the strategies we carried out, allowing us to reiterate our leadership in the sector at a global level,” he said.
