Fully electric extendable ferry concept

The battery-powered Fassmer CIT-E Ferry has a modular concept allowing the customer to change the vessel’s overall length from 12 up to 24 metres, depending on the route serviced.

“Many cities worldwide are suffering from a high traffic density and congestion on their streets,” said Fassmer’s sales manager for boats and davits, Wolfgang Moewes. “To decongest land-based transportation, urban planners increasingly rely on water taxis and ferries.

“That makes the Fassmer CIT-E Ferry the ideal solution as it does not only reduce traffic on the streets and strengthens public transport but also operates emission-freem” he added.

The ferry, designed by Judel/Vrolijk & Co., has a low wash catamaran hull that delivers speeds of up to 25 km/h. Depending on the overall battery capacity and driving speed, it is capable of carrying up to 100 passengers for 14 hours of daily operation time without recharging.

Torqeedo’s Deep Blue drive system is equipped with lithium-ion batteries with a battery bank capacity of between 80 kWh and 1 MWh of power. Twin steerable thrusters deliver continuous power of 100 kW (peak power of 130 kW) and rotate up to 360 degrees, making the CIT-E Ferry easy to manoeuvre even in the narrowest urban waterways.
