GSI to build third dual-fuel MR tanker for Proman Stena Bulk
The 49,900dwt dual-fuel newbuilding will be delivered in H2 2022. The company already has two dual-fuel newbuildings under construction at GSI, which are expected to be delivered from the beginning of 2022.
In common with the other two IMOIIMeMAX newbuildings, the vessel will be fitted with a MAN B&W 6G50ME-C9.6 engine, fitted with MAN Energy Solutions’ latest water emulsification solution.
The vessel also includes redesigned hull lines and a shaft generator, among other energy efficiency measures.
The third vessel, which will be named the Stena Prosperous, will be utilised by Stena Bulk within their traded pool of ships for a period of two to three years. The vessel will be the first methanol dual-fuel ship traded on the chemicals / CPP market by a conventional shipowner without an active contract to a methanol producer.
By 2024 or 2025, the vessel will be deployed on long-term charter to Proman Shipping. Proman uses its fleet to transport methanol from production facilities in Beaumont, Texas and Trinidad and Tobago to customers in Europe, the Americas and Asia. The vessels carry other cargoes on backhaul voyages.
