Havyard inks contract for 2+1 new wellboats

The ships will be designed by Havyard Design and Solutions and will be constructed at Havyard Ship Building Technology`s shipyard in Leirvik, Norway. The other three business areas of the Havyard Group will also be involved in the project. Fish Handling (MMC First Process) will deliver the on-board fish handling system, while Power & Control (Norwegian Electric Systems) will deliver power and management from bridge to propellers, while Production & Services will deliver subcontractors to the yard.

The ships will be the fifth and sixth Havyard 587 design vessels for NFT and are due to be delivered in December 2020 and June 2021. The contract includes an option for a third vessel, which must be exercised by November 2019. The value of the contract is estimated at over NOK1 billion (US$115 million).

The Havyard 587 is 84.6m long and 16.9m in width. The design features cylindrical tanks for good flow conditions and constant and good water quality, filter and water treatment systems that enable closed transport across long distances, a high lifting height for unloading and delousing systems for the fish. Efficient propulsion machinery and optimised hull lines for the expected operational conditions give the design a leading position among efficient and environmentally friendly wellboats.
