HHI-EMD signs contract for 25 new-model engines
The engines will be installed on a series of new 13,000 TEU container vessels to be built by Hyundai Heavy Industries-Shipbuilding Division.
The engine is an upgraded, more fuel-efficient version of the company’s existing H32/40 model engine with 20% increased engine output thanks to a variable fuel injection timing device. The engine has an output of 3.6~4.8MW.
The new HiMSEN H21C, H32C line-up have been developed inhouse to improve engine output, performance, and maintenance convenience.
HHI originally introduced the H32C at the 2019 CIMAC conference in Vancouver. The H32C engine has been designed with a 320mm bore and 450mm stroke at 720/750rpm. The engines have a output ranging from 3.6 to 4.8MW.
Over 14,000 HiMSEN engines have been exported around the world to date, and the company is now developing methanol and ammonia engines.
