HJSC to build dual fuel LNG bunkering vessel

The contract is valued at KRW 127.1 billion (approximately $87.47 million).

The newbuild will be a large-scale LNG bunkering vessel with a length of 144 metres, a beam of 25.2 metres, and a depth of 12.8 metres. While the exact delivery date has yet to be announced, the shipyard has confirmed that the vessel will incorporate a dual-fuel propulsion system, allowing it to operate on both LNG and marine diesel oil.

HJSC has designed the vessel to feature two LNG tanks certified by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), which are expected to enhance stability and operational efficiency while minimising environmental impact. The order aligns with the company’s broader strategy to expand its presence in the LNG bunkering sector.

This latest contract follows the company’s unveiling of a 7,500 cbm LNG bunkering vessel concept in 2023, which received approval in principle (AiP) from Lloyd’s Register. That design incorporated a ballast-free system, eliminating the need for ballast water exchange.
