The company won the award for the best health, safety and environment (HSE) initiative in 2014-2015 at Shell’s contractor workshop. The award was for the introduction of Chariot Robotic equipment for hydro-blasting vessels’ hulls which helps in reducing HSE risks while offering consistency and increased efficiency.

As part of the introduction various tests, including emission tests and waste generation tests, were carried out on a periodic basis to assess the performance of the machines and their impact on HSE aspects. Drydock World noted that the technology is set to replace the existing grit blasting process.

The shipyard reported that it has also implemented large covered painting chambers with year-round temperature controlled de-humidification and vacuum cleaning facilities.
