Hydroniq Rack seawater cooler for new wellboat

The wellboat, NB70, has been designed by Skipskompetanse from Måløy, Norway and will be a sister vessel to Ro Vision, which in 2020 was delivered as the world’s first hybrid wellboat, and the Ro Venture.

Hydroniq Coolers will deliver its Rack seawater cooler to the wellboat. “Both Larsnes Mek and Rostein are highly familiar with our seawater coolers and the advantages of integrating them into the hull. We therefore know very well what is required from us for this project,” says Jan Inge Johannesen, sales manager at Hydroniq Coolers.

The Rack system is integrated in the hull below the main engine room of the vessel, using seawater to reduce temperatures in the ship’s engines and other auxiliary systems. It is said to be particularly suited to vessels that operate with large loads and at low speeds, such as wellboats.

The newbuild wellboat will be 84.27 metres long, 15.5 metres wide and with a total storage capacity of 3,900 cubic metres. She will be equipped primarily to transport salmon and smolt.
