Hyundai MIPO confirms order for six tankers
The 183-metre long vessels will have a beam of 20 metres. The vessels are set to be fitted with Hyundai’s own high-pressure selective catalytic reduction (HP-SCR) devices, ensuring that the vessels will be compliant with IMO NOx Tier III requirements.
The high pressure system provides a compact and efficient system without compromising engine performance or impacting fuel consumption. Unlike Hyundai’s earlier low-pressure SCR for a large engine, the ship’s engines can continue to operate on HFO with the HP-SCR, rather rather than requiring MGO.
Construction of the first vessel is scheduled for mid-2019, with the last vessel set to be delivered by Q3 2020.
