Incat to build ship for Trinidad & Tobago

Construction of the ferry at Incat Tasmania’s shipyard in Tasmania, Australia, is due to commence shortly. The Trinidad & Tobago inter-island seabridge has previously been served by two Incat vessels, the T&T Express and T&T Spirit.

Robert Clifford, Incat chairman, said: “Incat is pleased that the Trinidad and Tobago Government has made the decision to invest further in their vital seabridge connection with the purchase a newbuild vessel and we look forward to delivering their new ship in 2020.”

With capacity for 1000 persons, and as with the previous two Incat ferries that operated on the seabridge, the new vessel will feature onboard catering facilities, a gift shop and a prisoner holding cell for transfers between Trinidad and Tobago.

The latest ship to emerge from the Incat Tasmania shipyard, the 110m HSC Saint John Paul II, will undergo sea trials over the next week. The vesse is set to depart in late January for her new home with Virtu Ferries in Malta, servicing the route between Malta and Sicily.
