J-ENG expands China customer support

The office is intended to strengthen J-ENG’s after-sales service for customers operating vessels equipped with UE engines in China. The office will also improve the company’s support for J-ENG’s UE licensees in the country. 

Chinese UE licensees have been rapidly increasing orders for UE engines and have already established the foundation for continuous production for UE engines.

Chinese UE licensees have so far received orders for a total of 184 units of UE engines, mainly for Chinese coastal vessels (i.e. bulk carriers, container feeders, small chemical tankers etc.). The company notes that 62 vessels equipped with UE engine are currently in service.

The rise in order volumes has been driven by Guangzhou Diesel Engine Factory Co., Ltd., which has emerged as a leading UE licensee in China. It has accumulated over 90 orders since it acquired the UE license in 2021.  

In the future, the vessels equipped with Chinese licensees’ UE engines are scheduled to go into service one after another, which contributed to the decision to open the office.
