Kawasaki delivers Dunkirkmax bulk carrier

The Feg Success, at 182, 619 dwt, boasts one of the largest cargo capacities among vessels that can enter the French port of Dunkirk. The 292m long, 45m wide bulk carrier is fully compliant with the new bulk carrier hull strength rules (IACS Common Structural Rules) for enhanced safety. The vessel is powered by a 18,660 kW MAN 6S70MC-C Mk 7 Kawasaki built two-stroke diesel engine driving an 8m diameter Nakashima five-bladed fixed pitch propeller for a service speed of 15.3 knots. To achieve maximum fuel economy, the newbuilding is fitted with a Kawasaki semi-duct system with contra fins and rudder bulb with fins.

Auxiliary power is supplied by means of three 630 kW Daihatsu 6DK-20 diesel gensets. The new bulker has double-hull fuel oil tanks and electrical deck machinery to prevent marine pollution. Another feature is the anti-corrosion coatings that comply with the new performance standards regarding protective coatings (PSPC) for ballast tanks to ensure satisfactory paint quality.
