Kawasaki delivers LNG carrier
The 118,634 grt vessel has four Moss spherical tanks that hold a total of 147,578m3 of LNG. It also features thermal insulation performance with the Kawasaki Panel System which achieves a boil-off rate of 0.15% per day. The cargo tanks are protected against direct damage by double hulls and double bottoms.
Taitar No.2 has a traditional gas carrier propulsion power plant consisting of a 26,900 kW Kawasaki UA-400 steam turbine driving a Nakashima fixed pitch propeller for a service speed of 19.5 knots. Auxiliary engines comprise two sets of Shinko RG92 turbines coupled to Nishishiba Electric generator each with an output of 3,100 kW, and a 8N330L-SV Yanmar diesel driving a 3,100 kW Nishishiba generator.
Other features of the 289.50m long, 49m wide gas carrier include a computer-controlled navigation system integrated into the wheelhouse to improve operability and a 360° all-round view from the bridge that enables single-operator oceangoing navigation. The control room, located close to the cargo tanks, is also equipped with an integrated monitoring and control system that deals with the cargo-handling operations and engine conditions.
