Kistler updates powertrain diagnostics system
The KiBox2 is a comprehensive diagnostics system for both electric and non-electric powertrains. Based on open architecture, the tool features in-vehicle and bench-testing together with real-time performance measurement for both closed-loop and in-cycle engine control.
With connectivity including WLAN, hotspot capability and GPS, the KiBox2 has a new user interface with active user guidance and full retrograde compatibility with the original KiBox.
Both hardware and the extendable software are based on a modular principle and the new solution also includes the KiBox Cockpit software which enables connection to third-party devices.
The new model also features intuitive guidance with voice control and audio feedback, an improved signal conditioning for the crank angle sensor, a bidirectional CAN-FD interface and the option of linking up to four KiBox2 units including precision time protocol.
Customers can also enhance their engine development capabilities by using metrics for electric machine efficiency characterisation as well as in-cylinder pressure metrics for ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’ combustion including new synthetic fuels.
