Güngen will use Vessel Insight initially to benchmark the vessels within its fleet, providing the foundation for increased fuel savings and reduced emissions. The ultimate aim is to standardise the digitalisation process and collect all data from the ships’ assets for use in the Kognifai Marketplace, a network of third-party software applications that can be used to help make businesses more sustainable and competitive.

Selim Güngen, chief operating officer of Güngen, said the sensors on board the fleet produce a huge amount of valuable data. “So far, despite enjoying the best satellite communication contracts which the market has to offer, we have only really been able to access this data by logging into our ships,” he said.

“This relatively slow and inefficient process has obstructed our predictive maintenance and data analysis endeavours. We therefore reached out to Kongsberg, who also made our ships’ automation systems, to find a solution which will deliver an effortless data stream, accessible from anywhere and at any time from a user-friendly interface,” he added.

The contract was signed on 5 May 2021 and installation will begin in July 2021.
