In his new role, Koo will take responsibility for managing LR’s strategic relationships with key maritime clients in the region, while also serving as the organisation’s senior representative in Hong Kong. The appointment reinforces LR’s commitment to strengthening client partnerships and delivering tailored services in one of Asia’s most prominent maritime hubs.

With more than a decade of industry experience, Koo brings a deep understanding of shipping operations and technical management, most recently serving as group chief operations officer at Tai Chong Cheang Steamship Co. (TCC). At TCC, he oversaw the commercial and technical operations of the company’s bulker and tanker fleets, and led the development of proprietary emission reduction technologies for both existing vessels and newbuilds.

He began his career in the energy sector, working as an IT operations business analyst at Chevron Corp., where he supported pricing operations for global fuel retail networks.

Commenting on the new role, Koo said: “I am excited to join LR at such a critical moment in the history of the shipping industry. The sector faces increasing complexity due to emerging environmental regulations, evolving technologies, and longstanding traditions that are fundamental to maritime heritage. I look forward to collaborating with key stakeholders in Hong Kong and across the broader shipping community to develop value-added solutions for navigating these unprecedented challenges.”

Andrew McKeran, chief commercial officer at LR, said: “Edward’s appointment demonstrates LR’s strategic commitment to investing in senior leadership talent that understands our clients’ businesses. His extensive background in shipping operations, combined with his proven track record in strategic relationship management, positions him perfectly to drive growth and deliver exceptional value for our Hong Kong clients.”
