MaK power by the hour agreement for Van Oord
In signing the Power by the Hour contract, the two parties said they have taken the next step in their close and long-lasting collaboration to the next level.
“The service contract will provide us with better asset predictability. By striving for optimised engine performance and a minimisation of fuel consumption and emissions, this CSA supports both parties to act in a socially responsible manner,” said Jaap de Jong, staff director ship management department, Van Oord.
Minimising downtime
For Bolier, the Power by the Hour contract allows it to collaborate more closely with customers helping them to increase the reliability of their MaK assets and optimise operational costs.
The agreement will allow both companies to focus on their core business. It will enable them to schedule on-site maintenance more effectively to support operational excellence and minimize unplanned vessel downtime.
In addition, Van Oord will benefit from the latest MaK technological developments, including performance improvement updates.
Bolier said that ship owners are increasingly asking for global customized service and maintenance agreements.
It offers customised and defined master agreements for anything from the delivery of parts to full-service. Advantages include an agreed price structure for deliveries of parts, fixed cost price per running hour geared to each ship and time period, preventive inspection of the installation with supplementary advice and guaranteed delivery of parts.
