MSC, CSSC and WinGD in methanol conversion study
The project is understood to relate to an existing series of container vessels that MSC has ordered from shipyards within the CSSC group in China. If the project moves from concept to commercial reality, is likely to be among the first references for a large bore methanol-fuelled engine WinGD is developing.
The study project includes container ship owner and operator, MSC, engine designer WinGD, naval architects Marine Design and Research Institute of China (MARIC) as well as CSSC. The agreement was signed at a ceremony during SMM on 7 September, according to a social media post placed by DNV. WinGD confirmed the project but said that no further details could be shared at this time.
