Elomatic and Deltamarin have signed a contract for the design of a Global Class mega passenger ship

The contract value has not been disclosed but is said to be one of the largest in the Elomatic and Deltamarin history.

Work includes engineering for the basic and detail design phases in all engineering disciplines, while both companies will also assist the shipyard during the construction with technical site services.

Mika Laurilehto, Deltamarin’s managing director, said: “This is a very significant project for us and shows that our expertise in passenger ship design is highly valued internationally.”

“It will have a long-term positive effect on employment at Deltamarin and we look forward to delivering the high quality technical expert services that such a vessel requires.”

The Global Class mega passenger ship for cruise line Star Cruises will be over 340 metres long, 45 metres wide and have a gross register tonnage of 200,001.

The ship order aims to boost the European high-end shipbuilding industry.

“We are very proud that MV Werften has chosen us as a strategic partner and that they have shown faith in us to design passenger vessels of the highest quality. These kinds of demanding projects allow us to showcase our top know-how in this area,” said Elomatic CEO, Patrik Rautaheimo.

The project is expected to last almost four years with delivery to Star Cruises is scheduled for 2020.
