New hull design tool halves lead time
The new ACD Resistance Module optimises a ship’s hull based on its resistance, halving the typical design process time and reducing the likelihood of later changes.
“In the early phases of design, engineers must make decisions that can have an irreversible influence on later design stages,” explained Roy de Winter, R&D engineer at C-Job Naval Architects.
“Therefore, it is beneficial to make these decisions in a data driven way. An optimisation process is difficult and labour-intensive work, but is essential for a reliable and efficient result,” he added.
The ACD Resistance Module builds on previous work by C-Job, namely the accelerated concept design framework which uses simulation software together with algorithms to generate optimised concept designs.
The new software uses these latest algorithms and operates via the VIKTOR platform which offers a user-friendly interface where multiple users can work on projects.
