Noryards IMR vessel for BOA Offshore

The vessel will have a total length of 108m and a width of 24m. Noryards said the vessel will be one of the most energy-efficient units of its class, ensuring low emissions and reduced fuel consumption. Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2017, according to data from Noryards.

The vessel is to be fitted with main propulsion consisting of two Wärtsilä CPP (controllable pitch propeller) thrusters each with a capacity of 3,800 kW according Per Edvin Tande, director of engineering at Noryards Fosen.

The vessel will have sizeable free deck space and a high crewing and operator capacity relative to its size. Optimal comfort for crew and operators is an important objective, including modern facilities for execu-tion of effective IMR operations.

“Hull construction will be subcontracted to one of Noryards’ recog-nised partners in Turkey, Tersan shipyard. The hull is scheduled to arrive at Noryards Fosen for outfitting mid-2016,” the shipbuilder said in a statement.

BOA Offshore said that yard owner Calexco will participate in the project as an equity partner.

Based in Bergen Noryards was established under a strategic partner-ship between the shipbuilding division of Bergen Group of Norway and the Zaliv Group of Companies in Ukrain, which operate under common international ownership.

BOA Offshore currently operates a fleet of about 35 units which con-sists of construction vessels, offshore support vessels, modern tugs and large flat top and semi-submersible barges, according to data from the Norwegian firm.

The deal is the third consecutive BOA contract for Noryards, following BOA Bison launched at Noryards Fosen last year and BOA Jarl, currently under construction at the company’s yard in Rissa.
