Partnership focuses on decarbonising shipping

The strategic corporate partnership agreement will see Alfa Laval become an official partner to the Center and is part of the recently announced SOFC4Maritime, an EUDP-funded project targeting the use of future green fuels via the application of SOFCs for power production on marine vessels.

The chief executive of Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center, Bo Cerup-Simonsen, said that decarbonising shipping needs a system change which can only be achieved through collaboration across the maritime and energy sectors. “Alfa Laval share our vision of a zero-carbon maritime industry and acknowledgement of the vast effort required to get there,” he said.

“In joining the Center, they bring on board vital experience and knowledge enabling the Center to establish the overall narrative of the transition as well as initiate projects and activities that will accelerate the development of tomorrow’s solution,” he added.

Alfa Laval will also be joining the Center’s Advisory Board providing strategic and technical guidance to future Center activities.

“Working in partnership, we will realise solutions that pave the way for carbon-neutral shipping in a manner that is practical and economically viable,” said Søren Helmuth Jensen, senior vice president of the Alfa Laval Marine Division.
