Princess Cruises builds for China
The new vessel, which has been ordered by the Carnival Group, will go to sea in 2017. The 145,000gt ship will host 3,560 passengers
and
builds on the basis of the twin vessels
Royal Princess
and
Regal Princess, built in the same shipyard
and
delivered in 2013
and
2014 respectively.
Fincanteri said the ships represent a new technological benchmark for their innovative layout, outst
and
ing performance
and
state-of-the-art technology. “They witness that innovation
and
customer care of a market leader such as the Carnival Group are essential levers to tackle a crisis such the ongoing one,” the yard owner added.
As reported, the vessel is being built at a cost of around €600 million. Fincantieri has built 70 cruise ships since 1990 (
and
47 in the last 13 years). A further 14 ships are currently being designed or built in the group’s yards.
