Seven bid for Yamal Novy icebreaker
Nordic and Aker topped rival bids from Spetssudoproekt, Krylov State Research Center, Vympel Design Bureau for Shipbuilding, Marine Engineering Bureau – Design-SPb and Morskoye Proektirovanie. In a separate tender for preparing documentation, Nordic Yards and Aker were joined by bidders Spetssudoproekt, Krylov State Research Center and Design Bureau Petrobalt.
The tender is for the first of two icebreakers of Aker ARC130A design to serve the port, operated by Gazprom Neft. The first icebreaker under the ARC130A design is currently being built in Finland for the Finnish Transport Agency and will become the first LNG-fuelled icebreaker. The Gazprom ships will not use LNG, and will be equipped with stronger hulls and greater power than the Finnish version.
The proposals are to be reviewed on June 2 with the tendering process to be completed on June 15.
