Short sea shipper expands fleet
Wilson says the vessels will have a focus on sustainability, flexibility and efficiency and will help the company meet its environmental targets. The order follows the earlier announcement in June 2023 of six new 3,800 dwt vessels.
“By adding new tonnage we are strengthening our position as a modern and responsible player in the maritime industry and taking a step in the right direction to further reduce our carbon footprint,” said the company.
The total of 14 newbuildings will be delivered from the first half of 2025 until 2028, with the 6,300 dwt vessels being delivered directly after the 3,800 dwt vessels.
“These new, modern vessels will contribute to both growth and fleet renewal of the existing fleet,” continued the company.
“This major investment marks another milestone in Wilson’s commitment to sustainable and efficient maritime transportation and ensures our ability to deliver flexible and efficient services to our clients.”
“The newbuildings will also contribute to enhanced operational excellence for the Wilson fleet,” it added.
