SunStone places sixth expedition cruise vessel order

SunStone Ships originally placed one firm contract and nine options on Ulstein deliveries of expedition cruise vessel designs and equipment packages back in 2017. The sixth vessel already has a long-term charter agreement in place. It is scheduled for delivery in September 2021.

The ship owner is in negotiations around a further four options and expects to sign a contract for a seventh vessel in May, with the remaining three options likely to be concluded in 2019.

The first INFINITY-Class vessel, Greg Mortimer, was launched in March 2019 and is scheduled for delivery in August 2019. The other vessels are scheduled for delivery in September 2020, February 2021, March 2022 and September 2022, respectively.

Stand-out features

The INFINITY-class vessels have accommodation for 85-115 crew members and 130-200 passengers. The X-BOW hull will be built according to Polar class 6, Ice Class 1A, with dynamic positioning system and zero-speed stabilisers.

In addition to the design of the vessel, Ulstein is also responsible for the delivery of the equipment package, as well as supervising the technical construction of the vessel.

All the ships in the series measure 104.3 metres in length and 18.4 metres in the beam and have a draught of 5.1 metres.
