TotalEnergies In Singaporean Boxship Biofuel Bunker First

During the operation, a biofuel blend composed of VLSFO blended with 20% second-generation, waste-based and ISCC-certified UCOME (Used Cooking Oil Methyl Ester) was supplied via ship-to-ship transfer to 4,250 TEU COSCO HOUSTON container vessel. The biofuel was consumed during her voyage between Singapore and Jakarta, Indonesia.

The UCOME bio-component can achieve more than 80% reduction of GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions compared with heavy fuel oil from a well-to-wake analysis. Consequently, the delivered biofuel blend provides a reduction of up to 17% in GHG emissions compared with conventional fuel oil.

TotalEnergies Marine Fuels noted that the operation was made possible with support from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and the involvement of local partners such as tank storage company, Vopak Terminals Singapore at Penjuru.

This operation follows successful biofuel bunkering trials that TotalEnergies Marine Fuels performed in Singapore with a vehicle carrier operated by MOL and a bulk carrier chartered by NYK Line earlier in 2022.
