TSUNEISHI DELIVERS FIRST OF NEW HANDYMAX BULKER RANGE

The vessel features a modern electronically-controlled engine, and features Tsuneishi-developed TOP-GR and MT-FAST energy-saving propeller and hull fittings plus SOx scrubber technology.

Tsuneishi confirmed that the vessel has reduced fuel consumption per ton mile by over 4% at the same draft and same vessel speed as the TESS38 design, extending the operational range and the vessel’s environmental performance.

The TESS42 includes cargo securing equipment to permit the carriage of logs on the deck, at the same time as bulk cargo in the vessel’s holds. The vessel features four deck cranes, wide-opening hatch covers, and semi-box-type cargo holds suitable for transporting steel products.

Meanwhile, Tsuneishi Shipbuilding noted that the TESS42 design had been upgraded and would be compliant with Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) Phase 3 criteria. The shipbuilder noted that a Phase 3 rating has been applied to a number of its designs for serial production ranging from the 42,200dwt TESS42 through to post-Panamax tonnage, such as the 88,200dwt Kamsarmax. The EEDI Phase 3 standard will become mandatory for bulker newbuilds from 2025.
