UAE shipowner expands dry bulk fleet

The three vessels, the 63,600dwt Tomini Entity, the Tomini Felicity and the Tomini Tenacity, take the shipowner’s fleet to 12, and reduce the average age of the fleet to just three years. The newbuilding programme is intended to replenish the fleet with modern, eco-friendly ships.

“We specialize in selected dry bulk vessel segments namely ultramaxes; we have confidence in the sector and remain committed to growing a diverse fleet to meet global transportation needs”, commented Nitin Mehta, CEO.

The three sister ships measure 200m in length, 32m in width and have a draught of 13.3m.

The bulkers are powered by a single MAN two-stroke main engine, in the shape of a five-cylinder version of the S60ME-C type. Daihatsu supplied the three 5DK-20e diesel generators, while Cummins supplied the 6CT-8.3-D(M) emergency generator.

Meanwhile, the first of three 81,400dwt Kamsarmax bulk carriers ordered by Tomini Shipping from Chinese shipyard Taizhou Kouan in 2017 was launched on 8 November 2019, according to the shipyard.
