Validating hull and propeller performance for economy and cleanliness

The development has been welcomed by paint company Jotun, because the new version is compatible with Jotun’s Hull Performance Measurement Method (JHPMM), a methodology developed to enable performance-based contracts as a part of Jotun’s Hull Performance Solutions.

Reporting on hull and propeller performance is one of the features of Marorka’s online offering that can produce quick and effective results. Marorka Online can now be used to determine the outcome of performance-based contracts agreed between shipowners and suppliers of hull and propeller performance solutions.

An increasing body of evidence indicates that there is potential for fuel savings and reduced emissions of greenhouse gases related to monitoring and improving hull and propeller performance. Reliable measurements are essential, and the new functionality offers full transparency, a point emphasised by Geir Axel Oftedahl, director of business development at Jotun Hull Performance Solutions: “Performance-based contracts are a cornerstone of our Hull Performance Solutions, and the measurement methodology and data used to determine the outcome of such contracts must be available to both parties”.
