Vestdavit lands largest ever contract for Canadian coast guard vessels

The deal, with Seaspan Shipyards in Vancouver, will initially see the delivery of six FF-15000 davit systems, with an option for a further ten units. This follows Vestdavit’s previous contract with Seaspan to supply RHIB davits for the Polar Icebreaker.

The FF-15000 is a hydraulically operated davit with a 15,000kg safe working load (SWL). It can handle a range of craft, including a 9m self-propelled barge, 7.5m RHIB, and a 20-foot ISO container. Advanced features such as shock absorbers, dual winches, and an anti-pendulation device ensure safe and efficient launch and recovery operations in challenging conditions.

Magnus Oding, general manager of Vestdavit said: “This contract is a strong endorsement of our davit systems and our efficient delivery model. We are proud to be supporting the Canadian Coast Guard with a solution that meets their demanding operational requirements.”

The new multi-purpose vessels will operate on Canada’s east and west coasts, supporting a range of missions including icebreaking, search and rescue, and environmental response. Vestdavit’s davit systems will play a critical role in enabling these vessels to perform their duties effectively.
