Njord deal

The deal expands V.Group’s portfolio of technical expertise and digital capability aimed at helping shipowners and charterers reduce fuel consumption and meet tightening emissions requirements.

By bringing Njord into the group, V.Group is seeking to combine its established strengths in regulatory compliance and operational performance with Njord’s experience in advanced systems integration and data-driven efficiency tools. The company said this will enhance its ability to deliver measurable value to owners and operators as they navigate the transition towards cleaner and more efficient shipping.

Njord will become the primary decarbonisation brand within the V.Group portfolio and will be closely integrated with the company’s wider marine services platform. The combined offering is intended to provide an end-to-end approach to fuel efficiency and decarbonisation, covering compliance support, operational insight and the technical systems required to implement alternative fuels and energy-saving measures in practice.

V.Group said the acquisition responds to growing demand across the industry for comprehensive solutions that can deliver immediate fuel efficiency gains while also supporting longer-term carbon reduction strategies. With regulatory pressure increasing and fuel choices becoming more complex, owners and operators are looking for partners able to link strategy, technology and day-to-day operations.

René Kofod-Olsen, group CEO of V.Group, said the acquisition would accelerate the company’s ambition to become a leading advisor and service provider in fuel efficiency and decarbonisation. He said that combining Njord’s technology integration capabilities with V.Group’s operational expertise would allow the group to offer a complete ecosystem, from compliance guidance through to the practical deployment of efficiency measures and alternative fuels.

Frederik Pind, managing director of Njord, said joining V.Group marked a significant new phase for the company and its customers. He said shipowners, charterers and operators were under increasing pressure from evolving regulations to find practical pathways to improved energy efficiency and long-term net zero targets, and that the combined capabilities would enable the delivery of more comprehensive and effective support.

Claus Gronborg, chief investment officer at Maersk Tankers, said the company was proud of Njord’s development and welcomed its continued growth within V.Group, adding that Maersk Tankers looked forward to maintaining a close relationship and ongoing collaboration.

Njord will continue to operate under its own brand and will form part of V.Group’s wider service offering within V.Services. Leadership of Njord will remain with Frederik Pind.
