VPS appoints new sustainable fuels boss
Dr Nicholas Clague brings a ‘great depth of science and technology expertise gained from his long career in fuel and oil supply industries’, said VPS’s chief executive, Dr Malcolm Cooper.
“We are extremely pleased to have Nick join VPS,” said Dr Cooper. “He will lead the further development of VPS testing and advisory services for alternative low-carbon marine fuels as part of our shipping decarbonisation service.”
Following his Bsc (Hons) Chemistry and PhD in Chemistry at Hull University, Nicholas Clague was employed in senior technical roles with SK Innovation, Lubrizol and Afton Chemical, during which time he was heavily involved in the development of biodiesel products for a range of sectors.
Most recently, he held the role of technical director with Vickers Oils, including overall technical responsibility for marine lubricants for stern tubes and deck equipment.
“I am really looking forward to this new and exciting opportunity,” said Dr Clague.
“This role will allow me to use my expertise and experience, as part of the VPS team in providing key technical solutions, support and advice, to our maritime customers, as global shipping looks to decarbonise and achieve challenging environmental emissions reduction targets over the coming years.”
