Vroon receives first of six Ulstein PSVs

The 83.4m vessel was built at Cosco Guangdong Shipyard in China and is destined to work in European waters. The remaining vessels will be delivered during 2015 and 2016.

The ships boast a cargo deck of 850m2 and employ the X-bow hull line design, which ensures better seakeeping in harsher conditions. Ulstein noted that the patented design offers operational and fuel-efficiency advantages to the charterer, along with high crew safety and comfort standards.

The hull and propulsion system are well suited for the North Sea and the North Atlantic, while tank capacities and a flexible and segregated arrangement make the vessels highly versatile. The ships meet the requirements of Clean Design, feature treatment systems for ballast water and are prepared for ABS fire-fighting class FFV1. Beyond the usual tanks for oil, water and drilling fluids, the vessels have four stainless steel tanks for flammable liquids such as methanol.
