Wärtsilä appoints Torsten Buessow to lead Transas business

Wärtsilä expects his expertise in maritime software, fleet operations, and post-merger integrations to help it achieve its Smart Marine vision. Buessow commented: “We will continue focusing on creating solutions to improve ship and port operations, and maritime academies by leveraging the latest technologies, including machine learning, Big Data analytics, and other innovations.”

Transas was acquired by Wärtsilä in May 2018. It is a global market leader in marine navigation solutions that include complete bridge systems, digital products and electronic charts. It is also a leader in professional training and simulation services, as well as ship traffic control systems.
