WE Tech to supply package for Donsotank tankers

The package, which includes Propulsion Drives, Permanent Magnet Shaft Generator, Shore Connection Switchgear, Bow Thruster Motor and DC Link, will be supplied to Wuhu Shipyard Co., where the vessels will be built.

WE Tech’s equipment delivery to Wuhu Shipyard will commence in April 2020.

WE Tech’s solution is based on variable frequency drive technology (WE Drive) and includes a Permanent Magnet Shaft Generator/Motor. In addition to offering lower fuel and operational costs while sailing, the solution also offers an efficient method to distribute power to bow thrusters and cargo handling system of the tankers.

The solution also allows the use of cleaner shore power or cold ironing. WE Tech also notes that WE Drive can condition any available voltage and frequency, ensuring the tankers’ electrical system is unaffected by various national power grids.

The vessels feature a dual-fuel LNG-fuelled propulsion system, and are designed to accommodate a 1,000 kWh battery-pack.
