Oceanic Marine Management runs maintenance pilot project

The ship manager – a subsidiary of Tufton Oceanic boasting a fleet of more than 70 vessels including crude oil tankers, product carriers, chemical tankers, container ships, multipurpose vessels and bulk carriers – will run the project on two of its ships.

The project will cover the optimisation of maintenance strategies on the vessels and provide a strategy for implementing condition-based monitoring. The initial stages will use a reliability centred maintenance approach using Lloyd’s Register’s RTAMO software. According to the class society, the software enables a structured approach to maintenance development and optimisation and has achieved proven savings of 30% in the offshore sector.

Roine Ahlquist, managing director, OMM, said: “Working together with LR, Oceanic Marine Management would be amongst the front runners in the industry, moving beyond traditional engineering and maintenance programmes and towards an asset management concept based on both new technologies and advancements in existing ones.”
