Cooperation to improve sustainable cruising

The newly formed cooperation with The Bellona Foundation is based on the two parties’ shared vision of a reducing their environmental impact.

Zero emissions

The recently adopted IMO strategy for reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, together with an increasing focus on continuing to improve the cruise industry’s environmental impact in local communities and destinations, will provide an important framework for the joint cooperation.

The arrangement will focus on solutions, regulations and legislation favouring the use of environmentally friendly vessels for the benefit of the environment, local destinations and the travellers.

Carnival Corporation (owner of AIDA Cruises and nine other major cruising brands) is already taking a lead in the industry when it comes to spearheading environmentally friendly vessels and the use of cleaner fuels.

It’s launching seven fully LNG-powered ships scheduled to be delivered before 2022.
