BIMCO gives award to COSCO chairman

“I believe Captain Lirong has been a key driver in developing the outstanding COSCO Shipping Group we see today,” said BIMCO President Anastasios Papagiannopoulos, who handed over the award in person.

One of China’s youngest captains, and the first President of Shanghai Shipping Exchange, Lirong also presided over the merger of COSCO Group and China Shipping Group.

The President’s Award is given to honour an individual or company who has made a significant contribution to shipping and the maritime industry.

China Merchants Energy Shipping received the award for Best Shipping Company of Greater China Area 2019.
