Parat extends combined steam boiler functionality with electrical elements

By adding up to 600kW electrical elements to its MCS combined boiler, the vessel will have the option to run the boiler for steam production from Shore Power, reducing emissions and shutting down the fossil fuel burner while at harbour.

Apart from reducing emissions at harbour, the solution offers the possibility of optimising power generator load during transit.

The boiler can also combust fish oil produced by fishing vessels’ fishmeal and fish oil factories, for example.

In normal operations, the boiler is part of the hot water and heat recovery loop and supplies additional heat to the HVAC, sanitary and tank heating systems on board.

The electrical connection can be delivered for 400V, 440V or 690V to suit the power distribution system aboard the vessel.

The company notes that a retrofit solution is available for vessels with existing boilers, utilising the company’s ECS Electrical Circulation boiler.
