Heavier fuels in gas turbine field tests

Field tests involving the burning of heavier fuel mixes in GE LM2500+ gas turbines are underway. The tests, which are being undertaken on behalf of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, involve at least two different fuel mixes and are designed to take some of the running costs out of gas turbine operation. Sources suggest the early tests have gone well. Fuels being tested are believed to be MGO with some heavier fuel mixed in and MDO with a fuel additive.
