WE TECH TO SUPPLY SHAFT GENERATORS FOR HMD LPG CARRIER NEWBUILDS

WE Tech is to deliver its energy efficient Solution One (Economic Operation Solution) together with a direct drive dual winding permanent magnet shaft generator to a series of four gas carriers. The package includes the WE Drive™, cooling unit and Dedicated Power Management System (DPMS).

“Our solution is very compact and fits perfectly to this type of gas carriers. With permanent magnet shaft generator technology, the energy efficiency of the solution reaches unmatched levels in the marine industry,” said Mr Martin Andtfolk, Sales Manager of WE Tech Solutions.

The solution significantly decreases the vessels fuel consumption, operation expenditure and maintenance cost by turning off the auxiliary generator during sailing. In Power Take Out (PTO) mode, electrical power is generated with shaft generator driven by the efficient two-stroke main engine, which also drives the main propeller of the vessel.

The solution builds on WE Tech’s system integration platform, used for easy integration with other control systems on board of the vessel. It also features an intelligent redundancy feature which minimises the risk for a blackout when the shaft generator is the only power source online for producing electrical power.

No timeline was given for the delivery of the equipment.
