J-ENG NEXT GEN ENGINE CONTROL PROJECT
This is intended to result in optimised engine control as well as the optimisation of maintenance timing/interval via condition-based monitoring (CBM). The two companies have a long cooperative relationship for digitalisation of marine diesel engine’s control systems.
The proposed “5th generation” Eco control system introduces a new analysis unit that will process operational data supplied from sensors from the main engine.
Data derived by the new engine performance analysis function will be displayed on an on-engine LCD monitor. The solution is expected to introduce wireless signal transfer from engine sensors to an engine monitoring system.
While the engine control device is expected to remain similar to the current Eco control system, the new engine control system would also see operational data exchanged with a digital twin of the main engine via a new input/output unit. By reproducing the main engine’s running condition virtually, combining the actual engine operational data with the insights from the model, J-ENG expects the solution to allow the ship operator to optimise the machinery’s fuel efficiency, while optimising life cycle costs.
J-ENG noted that new engine control product is intended to be applicable for current engine control systems, and will be available as an extended module.
