ExxonMobil expands marine lubricant range

Both are formulated to meet the US Vessel General Permit requirements for environmentally acceptable lubricants (EAL) making them ideal for deck and underwater machinery operating in areas where environmental protection regulations are in force. The hydraulic oils also meet EU Ecolabel regulations.

“Vessel operators increasingly need lubricants that combine high performance with regulatory compliance – that’s why we are adding Mobil SHC Aware Hydraulic Series and Mobil SHC Aware Grease EP 0 to our range of EALs,” said Frans Horjus, global marine lubricants sales manager at ExxonMobil.

The Mobil SHC Aware Hydraulic Series can be used in hydraulic winches, ramps, hatches, doors, cranes, pumps and other deck equipment. Benefits are said to include protection across a wide temperate range, superior low-temperature start-up compared with conventional marine lubricants and high resistance to oxidation and thermal damage.

The series has also shown to provide up to 3.6% efficiency compared with ExxonMobil’s standard hydraulic fluids when tested in an Eaton 25VMQ vane pump.

Mobil SHC Aware Grease EP 0 is especially suitable for use in rudder stocks. Benefits are said to include reliable performance across a wide temperature range, excellent bearing protection, as well as rust and corrosion resistance and superb adhesion and resistance to water washout.
