The new European Stage V-compliant C90 170 power unit delivers 127kW(170hp) at 2,000rpm, and 1,105Nm torque at 1,000rpm, and is targeted at waterway and estuarine vessels and work craft.

Instead of relying on urea-based aftertreatment to meet the stringent Stage V emission standard, FPT has focused on fuel map optimisation. This is said to achieve a 30% reduction in hydrocarbon (HC), NOx and particulate matter (PM) emissions, while containing total ownership costs.

Moreover, the engine incorporates a specific oil retention system to prevent the combustion of valve lubrication oil, substantially reducing visible smoke.

Type approvals have been obtained for the C90 170 Stage V from the main international regulatory authorities.

A further addition to the portfolio, for light commercial and also leisure craft applications in North America and Europe, is the N67 450 N engine. An evolution of FPT’s marine NEF family, the N67 450 N produces 336kW (450hp) at 3,000rpm and 1,305Nm torque at 1,800rpm. Meeting both US EPA and IMO emission criteria, the engine features enhancing cooling and improved injection at cold temperatures.

The same technological advances have also been adopted in a new model for use in Europe, the N67 170, adherent to Inland Waterway Vessel (IWV) Stage V requirements, and yielding 127kW (170hp) at 2,300rpm.

Since implementing a strategy of product enhancement and development for the marine market in 2020, FPT now has eight engine models aimed at the sector, covering outputs up to about 746kW (1,000hp).
