Schottel RudderPropellers for two new tugs
The Rapport 2600 tugs will also feature MariHub, the IoT gateway and monitoring solution from Schottel. The expected delivery date for the first tug is October 2022 and April 2023 for the second.
“We have used Schottel propulsion units in our tugs for many years,” said Kirk Jackson, president at Suderman & Young Towing Company. “The use of Schottel RudderPropellers and MariHub highlights our continued commitment to provide the best available equipment to serve our customers’ growing requirements,” he added.

Each of the tugs will be propelled by two diesel-driven Schottel RudderPropellers type SRP 430 (1,650 kW each) with a propeller diameter of 2.2 metres, giving a bollard pull of around 52 tonnes.
The 26 metre long by 12 metre wide vessels will also feature Schottel MariHub which collects, analyses and transfers signals from sensors, machinery and other ship equipment to an onshore cloud server, enabling owners to make performance evaluations and real-time condition analysis.
This predictive maintenance, working in tandem with ProCMS, allows for the early detection of irregularities in the drive train, increasing the availability of vessels while reducing maintenance costs and improving planning.
