CCS establishes sustainability initiative

Its aim is to promote the interconnection between upstream and downstream sectors of shipping’s clean fuel development.

CCS says the application of alternative fuels in shipping will have a profound impact on both upstream and downstream sectors, but it still involves many uncertain factors such as fuel supply, ship financing, technology development, and standards formulation. These issues range far beyond the scope of traditional shipping and require joint exploration by all parties in the entire industry chain.

CCS has therefore launched the Sustainable Shipping Innovation and Development Initiative to build a cooperative research platform with interested parties from energy, shipping, finance and other industrial sectors.

The initiative will focus on economics, safety, technology maturity, policies and regulations, fuel availability, and will involve extensive research to sustainable shipping innovation and development.

It will adhere to the principle of “Independent Contribution, Joint Research, Complementary Advantages and Achievement Sharing.”
