Chengxi wins 84,000dwt multipurpose vessel series

The vessels will become the largest multi-purpose ships in service once they are delivered. Chengxi Shipbuilding previously concluded the delivery of a series of 62,000dwt multipurpose vessels in 2022.

In addition to containers and electric vehicles, the vessels are understood to be optimised for high-efficiency loading of pulp. The ships themselves are expected to be 50 percent below the EEDI Phase III baseline. They will have a high-pressure SCR system and an exhaust gas cleaning system.

The orders have been financed by CITIC Financial Leasing, and the vessels are expected to enter into the charter trade.
